Mr. Darlis C. Greene, age 81, of Homosassa, Florida died January 18, 2016 in Crystal River. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Legion Post #155 or the 40/8 organization. He was born November 18, 1934 in Tarpon Springs, FL, son of the late Carl and Edna (Arnett) Greene. He was one of five children and was raised in Tarpon Springs. He moved to Homosassa from Tarpon Springs. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking and artwork. Darlis was a member and volunteer for the American Legion Post #155 and 40/8 organization, where he held several offices including Judge Advocate, Chef de Gare for the 40/8 and E-Board Officer and was voted Legionnaire of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Darlis had been a dedicated Voyageur for 19 years, most of them in Voiture 1219. He built the Tomb of the Unknown, the framework for the Wreck curtains, helped build and maintain the Loco and the replica of the 40/8 box car, cooked numerous meals and much more for the 40/8 organization. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Greene of Homosassa, 2 sons, Darlis C. Greene, Jr. of CA and Darin C. Greene of Homosassa, daughter, Diane J. Greene of Lecanto, stepson, Mark Monahan of Palm Harbor, stepdaughter, Michelle Monahan of Marianna, twin sister, Barbara Wescott of New Port Richey, sister, Bonnie Seebach of Clearwater and 4 grandchildren.
